Due to its fine micro structure and large specific surface area–a cubic centimeter of concrete can contain nearly thirty five fibers, the fiber can form a randomly oriented support system in concrete which thus can effectively control the formation and development of non-structural cracking such as plastic shrinkage cracking and drying shrinkage cracking, effectively reduce the segregation of aggregate and the formation of settlement cracking. As a result, the concrete’s impermeability, impact resistance, toughness and abrasion resistance are greatly improved and thus the architecture’s service life is greatly prolonged.
